Child Homelessness Day
The first ever Child Homelessness Day takes place on Wednesday 9 September 2026 (09/09/26).
The 9th September marks the beginning of something bigger. A new annual day of action, awareness, and youth-led change, created to shine a light on a crisis that too often goes unseen. Across London, more than 90,000 children are currently living in temporary accommodation, with thousands more facing other forms of homelessness or housing insecurity. Yet their stories are rarely centred.
Child Homelessness Day was created through Project 9.0 to change that. To make children visible, challenge stigma, spark honest conversations, and bring young people, schools, communities, and organisations together around one shared message: no child should grow up without the safety, stability, and childhood they deserve.
This is year one. This is where it starts.
